Jenni : Mason City High School Senior Portraits

Girl Sports Softball Track Hurdles Cheerleading

I love welcoming old friends back to the studio. Jenni visited in 2011 when her brother, Taylor was getting his senior portraits taken. Here’s a cute picture of them together back in 2011… #tbt Siblings portrait

Well, since then, Jenni sure has grown up and is a gorgeous young lady who is very athletic like her older brother and very much interested in sports.
We actually did two full sessions in one day to capture all her cheerleading, track and softball images as well as all the more classic looks. She picked a wonderful variety of outfits so I felt like she opened a door for me and all my creativity just started flooding out.
I’m in love with these images. I had such a hard time narrowing it down but luckily since we did two sessions, I get to show twice as many for their proofs! LOL! Now they are faced with the hard part, choosing! (Yikes!)
But that reminds me to mention…. One of the best parts about choosing my studio is that I am there for my customers, every step of the way, with an amazing ordering experience where we work together, in my studio with their images and lots of samples and I’m able to show them different creative ideas for displaying their favorite images with my state of the art ordering software. It’s so great, why don’t you call and book your session today and see what it’s all about?!  507-383-2344
🙂
Enjoy!

Sam : LeRoy-Ostrander High School : Senior Portraits

This young lady was a lot of fun for me to photograph because I felt like I knew her a little better than most of the seniors I take portraits of.
She wrote to me earlier in the summer, asking if I’d mentor her for one of her senior projects where she shadows someone in a career she’s interested in. Of course, I was happy to help and we met a couple different times… I gave her my best to get a “Big Picture” of what it’s like to be a portrait photographer… and the many aspects of my job.
She also go to shadow me on a fun family photo shoot and see me in action.
I love helping young people pursue their passion. We all need to find out what it is that we really love to do, and then figure out how to use that to create a service that will bring us the fulfillment we long for in our careers!!! (Okay, off my soap box) 🙂
So, since Sam here, loves photography, she wanted to do some images with her camera… a nice little number, I must say!
But my vision, to create something a little more artistic… I had her wear one of her dresses and I borrowed her a cute vintage Kodak camera I adore, and go stand in the long grass… I just feel like the picture tells me a story. Maybe it’s a little bit of fantasy, but it’s so cute if you ask me!

She also talked her dad into retrieving their t-top Camaro from their cabin to pose with… I loved, loved that look! Since it was an older model, having her wear her letterman jacket gives the images a retro feel.

Can you tell I love that vintage look???
She had some other cute outfits too, you’ll have to check out in the slideshow below.
Enjoy!

The Covert Family : Maternity and Family Portrait Session

This family has been on my blog a few times before. I had the pleasure of photographing Brett and Karie’s engagement, but I was out of luck on their wedding, as I was already booked that weekend. And then I had the honor of taking little Gracie’s newborn portraits almost two years ago now. So I was very happy to get the phone call from the radiantly expecting, Karie.

I just love this girl! She’s an art teacher and has such a beautiful free spirit about her that is hard to put into words. I just think she seems so peaceful and happy all the time.
Little Gracie is growing up so fast, and she’s just a little fireball! 🙂 Maybe she gets that from her daddy! (Right, Karie?)
I love kids this age as they are so expressive of their emotions and it all shows on their faces.

We had our work cut out for us on that hot, hot day… trying to take maternity portraits of Karie, 2 year old portraits of Gracie, and then family portraits as well. Whew! But it was nice and cool in the shade at Myre-Big Island State Park in Albert Lea, MN. It’s a good thing we scheduled the appointment for when we did because it was that day at 4 pm that all the Minnesota Parks were shut down due to the congressmen not being able to settle on a budget. (Just another reason I’m proud to live in Iowa now!) Hahaha!
Enjoy!
