The Johnson Family Portraits : Albert Lea, MN Photographer
Happy Friday Everyone! I’m sad to see the beautiful fall foliage disappear off the trees, but today I get to re-live some of that amazing fall weather we were having a couple weeks ago. This family has been customers of mine for a while now and this year they decided to update their professional family portrait I had taken for them back when they’d first discovered me.
They are amazing and helped me find a great location to do their family portrait in the town where they live. I always like to take that responsibility on my shoulders, because my clients who are busy moms & dads don’t need one more thing on their to-do list. But, in the fall, every day the leaves are changing and what might have looked great Friday morning is a brown, bare tree come Saturday afternoon. Right?!
I love the outfits the Johnson family chose to wear. They just coordinate so well. I love jewel-tones and the rich peacock blue color just harmonizes so pleasantly with the rusty reds and golden tones of the leaves.
I am excited to meet with them and find out which ones they decide to use as wall art to decorate their lovely home. I know she’s used this color throughout her home-decor so the images are going to tie into that so nicely.
If you ever need help planning clothing for your session, I’d love to assist you so you can have portraits that truely become part of your home decor just like the Johnson family.
Enjoy!

P.S. These are going to make some AMAZING holiday greeting cards!!!
Gabie and Reese : Little boys portrait session
It’s so funny, after every session the parents to these little guys tell me I earned double what I charged for the session fee because I’ve been working my tail off to get the perfect pictures to document their growing family. I just laugh and tell them I wouldn’t have it any other way. Their boys are so active and healthy! (Thankfully, after a reschedule last week due to ear infections that don’t make for very happy children)
I feel ALIVE when I’m working that hard for a kid to look at me and smile, and focus and get the lighting and pose and everything just right! It’s certainly not EASY, but how realistic is it to think that having children that will do exactly what you ask be the rule rather than the exception?
I’m just happy because I know that their parents understand that it’s the imperfect shots paired with the perfect ones that tell the whole story of their personalities.
I just finished up their next session and helped them place their order from these pictures we took last fall! LOL! Definitely not the ideal schedule for me as a business person, but I totally GET IT. I’m a parent to two healthy little boys myself and I know exactly what life is like at this stage of the game, although I know I have it easier because I’ve got a lot bigger spread between mine.
(Side Note: My Henry and their Reese are only a week or so apart… He’s the reason I couldn’t force myself to take more than a week or so of maternity leave. They were so sweet and asked me who I recommended so they could take him somewhere else, but I just couldn’t bear the thought of not getting to do it myself.)
LOVE THEM SO!!!
Enjoy,
Rebecca
Kendra : Osage High School Senior + Berg Family Portraits
Well, I had a very fun and very busy day when I drove down to Osage, Iowa to meet with Kendra and her mom for a morning of on-location portraits in their hometown. I photographed Kendra’s older brother, Kolby a few years back and so they were all very excited to create some amazing images for this beautiful young lady.
I’m always honored when my customers return to me. And I’ve done lots of returning families with younger siblings becoming Seniors this year, which makes me VERY HAPPY! I know just how many other photographers there are out there these days, creating facebook pages and trying to lure my customers away with lower prices or fancy photo treatments. I know I’m doing something right when people tell me they want MY EXPERIENCE, MY TALENT… I love that they enjoy the simplicity of my images and the natural expressions I am able to coax out of their loved ones.
I can’t imagine trying to do anything else. This is who I am, this is my style and my brand. I dabble in the props and cutesy stuff a little bit with newborns, but I just can’t help myself… what else are you going to do with a sleeping baby??? LOL!
But back to Kendra, and her images…
We did some at her grandparent’s place where they have this fantastic gazebo built into the bluffs overlooking the river below… such a magical location!
Then we went down to the river itself, and around town… finding sources of inspiration everywhere we looked!
We also took some with her (very tame and docile) award winning heifer… it’s almost like it’s a girl relaxing by the tree with her horse! A beautiful creature indeed!
After the morning festivities, we gathered up her immediate family for a little session at their home farm.
But, we still weren’t done!!! Once we finished that, we drove over to Kendra’s grandparent’s farm to photograph the whole Berg clan!
Look at these cute little cousins she has! They are just too cute!
All in all, it was a jam-packed day and I was darn happy to set my heavy camera down at the end… but it was definitely worth it when I saw all these great memories we created together.
Enjoy!

Ellie & Alex : Engagement Portrait Session
I’m excited to share the images from my latest engagement session with you. It has been truly beautiful around here the last two weeks. I have a ton of trees that turn colors and they make fall a very photogenic time of year at the Rebecca Lynne Photography studio!
This gorgeous young lady, Ellie, just so happens to be related to me through my husband. And so I’ve known her over 10 years now, but haven’t gotten to spend all that much time with her before now.
All Ellie knew… was that she loved LOVED my images! 🙂 I was touched by how adamant she was about having me photograph her wedding.
And I’m really enjoying getting to know her better and hearing about her wedding day plans. It’s so much fun to create a “vision” for the day… and it really helps when your photographer has a good understanding of that vision ahead of time so they can capture it fully.
The day we took these portraits, it was pretty windy and I was a tad worried about Ellie and her long hair getting blown every which way. But she was so cool and laid-back about it all. She was like, “No biggie, I can put my hair in a ponytail”… my kind of girl! 🙂
Anyhow, I just wanted to say, before I sign off… that I really like Alex and know he will be a great match for Ellie. Seeing the way they interact with each other and all the cute faces they’d share, makes me feel really good about their upcoming marriage.
Enjoy!
