Belly Love Session : Maternity Portraits
It seems like everywhere I go lately, I see someone who is either pregnant, just had a baby, or is announcing they are expecting! Seriously!
Let’s just hope my business can land some new and return customers with all this baby magic! *wink*
LOL!
I’ve gotta say, I do love photographing newborns and expectant mothers. The whole process is such a miracle and I enjoy being there for the journey with them and maintaining that relationship through the baby’s first year in professional portraits.
This blog post is featuring a maternity session I just photographed last weekend. I like to call these “Belly Love Sessions”… it’s just my little spin on it.
I loved pregnancy. I had a great experience being pregnant with Collin so it makes me happy to just being around women who are in the later stages of their pregnancy. They are usually very calm and yet full of anticipation and excitement to finally meet their little one.
Michelle and Dan are no exception. They are just the sweetest couple and will make fantastic parents. I captured their engagement portraits for them back in 2007 and they were just so cute back then!
Michelle has been a huge fan of my work and I’m pretty sure she would have had me photograph her wedding, but they decided to be married in Jamaica where they booked an all-inclusive package for their wedding. (Bummer for me! As I love to travel!) 😉
Luckily, even though Michelle and Dan moved further away from my studio (to Nebraska) they have still stayed in touch through facebook and continue to tell me they love me and my work the best! (Awwwww! I’m blushing!) So we scheduled this maternity session for the same weekend they would already be traveling back to Mason City for a baby shower with Michelle’s family.
Michelle and Dan have decided to wait to find out the gender of their baby and I am thrilled for them because my husband convinced me to wait and I was sure glad we did. In the end it was so exciting!
I hope they love these portraits. We did some classic images and a few more modern, fun shots as well.
Enjoy!

The Miller’s : Belly Love : Owatonna, MN
This great couple comes to my studio from Owatonna, MN. We have a few different connections that bring them my way… besides the great photography, that is! … I took wedding photos, newborn and family photos for one of Katie’s besties from her high school days and her hubby is good friends with mine.
I’m just so happy for them because they are the sweetest couple. Always joking around and I just love their sense of humor.
They’ve been trying for a while to have a baby and had to deal with a lot of hardships along the way. So when Katie reached 30 weeks we knew it was time to celebrate by taking some maternity portraits.
I normally don’t do maternity shots until the mommy-to-be is 32-36 weeks, but this lucky couple is expecting TWINS! 🙂 And so every day now, it’s almost like we’re all holding our breath… wondering if today will be the day they decide it’s time to arrive.
Poor little Katie, is such a petite thing! Her tummy is stretched so tight she said it feels like it’s been sunburned and when I touched it, it did feel hot. (You could actually see your handprint after you took it away). Crazy!
I just love how perfectly round her tummy is!
I can’t wait for the babies to arrive. The couple found out what gender the babies are, but they aren’t telling a soul! I am personally excited for the surprise, myself!!! I just wish I knew so I could buy more matching hats, but it’s probably a good thing because I would spend way too much money. (I will admit I did buy a coordinating set of hats that are pretty gender neutral so I’m excited to try those out!)
Well, that’s enough of my rambling!
Enjoy!

Miranda & Brandon : Engagement Portrait Session
Another amazing couple visited my studio last week! It’s just been puppy love like crazy around here!
Miranda is just adorable. She’s so petite and ever since I’ve known her she’s always looking cute with her makeup and hair done.
Her fiance isn’t hard on the eyes either! He’s a hunky farm boy and I’m guessing she thinks his tractor’s sexy… heeheehee. 😉
Sorry, that was totally corney! LOL! … there I go again! I just can’t stop.
Seriously though… they are going to make my job so hard. They just take too many dang good pictures. Love it!
Guess it’s a curse I’ll have to bear.
Enjoy!

Kelly and John : Engagement Portraits
Can you feel the love??? I just adore engagement sessions. It’s all the love, without all the wedding day pressure. (Or the super-tight dress!) 🙂 Who can really breath in those things anyway? Glad I didn’t live in the day when you wore a gown all the time. I’m not sure I could have survived.
Anyhow, back to the task at hand. Focus, focus! I haven’t been working much this week as I’m attempting to take a vacation since our daycare gal has the week off for her own vacation.
But, today I have my parents watching the little guy and I’m catching up a bit and needed to show off some great images from Kelly and John’s engagement session.
Aren’t they just cute? I can really tell that John’s just head-over-heels for Kelly. He looks at her with such love, it is sooo sweet.
If you like these, stay tuned, I have more engagement pictures coming up and a senior…. and next week is chock full of sessions, so there will be lots to share!
Enjoy!
